Why Are People So Pessimistic?

People always say that they're a sceptic or a pessimist. No. It's called being gutless. It takes courage to look for the good. It takes guts to try, even if that means failing.

It's easy to look for the negatives and ignore the positives. It's easy to say "fuck it" and stay exactly where we are.

It's this fear of rejection and disappointment why we don't even try and give things a real shot. It's all these self-defence mechanisms which blocks out the pain instead of facing it. When a relationship starts breaking down, it's much easier to see things a lot worse than what they really are, so that we don't even bother.

It's this bullshit story we tell ourselves. Pessimistic people will say that they're "realists" when they're actually just negative. Most people throw the term 'realistic' around to make themselves feel better about where they are in life. Being realistic does not mean staying at the 9 to 5 job that you hate, and not following your dreams because your parents and teachers told you so.

We all create our realities, therefore we can all create our desired lifestyles. It's all about perspective. If you constantly focus on all the negativity, then that's exactly what you are going to attract, and as a result of course you're going to think that the world is shit. This is not some hippy airy fairy claim, this is reality. All the pessismists will tell you that the law of attraction doesn't work because they're not living the life that they want to live, so they try and bring others down to make themselves feel better.

If you want to be an NBA superstar, then commit to the 10,000 hours required and be consistent! That's being realistic. If you persevere and have the right mindset, then you can be whoever the fuck you want to be!

I challenge any of you to try and find somebody who has an amazing mindset, has committed the required time and persevered towards a goal, and at the same time have a mediocre life.

Fuck the naysayers who tell you to be "realistic". They're just gutless pessimists who didn't even try, and now live mediocre lives. It might sound like I'm attacking people that don't try, but I'm not. I empathize 100%. It can be so hard to pull through that negative field that it's when rock-bottom comes our way, when we finally learn our lesson. It's only when these people pull others away from their dreams which really annoys me.

So please don't make the same mistake I did and let other people's opinion drown out your inner voice. Don't let others convince you with their bullshit stories to not give life a real shot. Because guess what? Life is what you make it, and there's so much limitless potential out there.

Live life according to your highest values. Be an optimist! It's a hell of a lot better than being a pessimist. I can tell you that from experience. It might take more work on your self-development but it'll definitely be worth it in the long run.

I'm not saying to ignore the negatives, but to see things the way they really are. I'm all for positive thinking, but this must be matched with action!

At the end of the day, life is a marathon, not a sprint. Chip away at the things that matter to you, and watch the compound effect kick in which will create the life that you truly want to live. Don't take the easy route and be a negative Nancy.
